A REBELLION OF CARE - 2025
Answering most of your questions about my book.
At last I can finally tell the watching world that my debut book of poetry is arriving in 2025! It will be called A REBELLION OF CARE and will be published by the Convergent Books imprint of PenguinRandomHouse!
The most painful thing in this whole process has been to write poems that I KNOW people would love, like and share on Instagram and NOT post them. I am a poster. Chronically online. And addicted to the little dopamine buzz that little black tile gives me everyday. The discipline of not posting is Herculean. I feel like Gandhi.
At least now I can talk about it so this week in the newsletter I am going to answer a bunch of questions about the book - what I am able to tell you, I want some (lots) of things to be a surprise (and it's not totally finished) but I can talk about the broader strokes.
When in 2025 will it be released?
The summer (so a whole year *crying emoji* ) there will be a cover reveal and pre-orders either at the end of this year or in January. If you follow any authors online you will know how important pre-orders are to determine how much the publisher invests in publicity etc.
Poems and essays?
It is largely poems with short essay introductions to the book and the individual chapters.
Will my favorite poem be in there?
Probably. Most of my most widely shared poems are present but there are some exceptions that didn't fit the theme of the book or only work online. A book is a different beast to a social media post and I have treated them as such. Despite being very popular, these won't be in the book...
